1. Are you a full-time or part-time author? How does that affect your writing?
I am a full-time author. Usually, it allows me to write more. But since the pandemic hit, I’ve had to slow down some because I’m homeschooling now.
2. What kind(s) of writing do you do?
I write in multiple genres. My most popular ones are Urban and Urban Paranormal.
3. What’s the biggest thing that people think they know about your genre that isn’t so?
They assume that all Urban is about drug dealers and baby mamas. But there are so many ways you can spin Urban that still gives you that hood flare, without being stereotypical. Then as far as paranormal, people always assume it’s scary, but it doesn’t have to be. A lot of the stories are just the same as regular fiction, just with a sci-fi twist.
4. Is there anything about the writing life you think is misunderstood by the public?
I think people think writing a book is easy. But there are so many components to a good story, and it takes time to put it all together. If you rush to put it together and miss one piece, then it messes up the whole story.
5. How many books have you written?
So far, 28 books total.
6. If someone is brand new to your work, what book do you think they should start with?
For Paranormal, D-City Underwood: Zontae’s Reign or D-City Chronicles: Aja and Ro for Urban.
7. What’s the title of your most recent book?
My latest release was A Touch of Death: Marci & Grave
8. How did you come up with the title of the book?
Marci comes from my Bayou series and she died in it. So, when she gets to the spirit world, she meets the King of Death, who’s name is Grave. I just combined it and came of with A Touch of Death.
9. What’s the back of the book summary?
Novella-Marci Leeann Marsh was born cursed because she was not a pure blood Fae. Doomed to live an existence alone, she commits a selfless act and sacrifices her own life to save a baby. However, her good deed isn’t enough. When she gets to the afterworld her past misdeeds come under fire. Marci is placed on trial to decide where she should spend eternity. She is to be judged by the same council, who have shunned her most of her life; Marci knows she is doomed.
Grave is the King of Death and head of the council. Being the man of the afterworld has afforded him money, power, and the most beautiful bedmates in the realm, but never the love of a mate. He had held the fate of many souls in his court for centuries in the Underworld. But never had he run across someone like Marci. With her fate in his hands, Grave finds himself drawn to the unstable half-fae beauty. But will Marci be too much for even the King of Death to handle?
10. Tell us about the main characters.
Marci is a half-fae ball of fire and her mouth is reckless. Behind her tough ways, she’s hurt because all of her life she has been mistreated. Grave is the King of Death and has grown cynical of love and Underworlders in general. Their personalities are very strong, so when these two meet more than just sparks fly.
