December 1, 2021 is National Rosa Parks Day. Rosa is a well-known civil rights activist born on February 4, 1913. On December 1, 1955, Rosa refused to get up from her seat on the public bus in the "colored" section, resulting in her arrest. Although Rosa was not the first person to resist bus segregation, the NAACP thought she would be a good candidate in seeing through her court case. Her resilience inspired the black community to boycott Montgomery buses for over a year, resulting in bus segregation being ruled as unconstitutional.
