Interviewing Monica Fontenot-Walters

Where did you get your love of books/storytelling/reading/writing/etc come from?

MW:  Honestly, I don’t know where my love of writing came from. My mom likes to read, but I really didn’t become a real reader until my sister introduced me to Cheaters by Eric Jerome Dickey. I didn’t know books like that existed! 😆😆 That was all it took.

Do you prefer being indie or being signed?

MW:  B. Love makes it hard to answer that question. 😆 There are pros and cons for each. The biggest pro for being indie is that you see more of your money. The con is that you also see it go out. 🥴😆

Name 3 authors you'd like to collaborate with that you haven't collaborated with yet?

MW:  B. Love, Kimberly Brown, and 🤷🏽‍♀️🤷🏽‍♀️🤷🏽‍♀️😆

You're known for consistently dropping books, where do you get the inspiration for new storylines, 🗣 Ms New Monica?

MW:  🤣🤣😂🤣 I get inspiration from the news, social media, and my family. I have a LARGE family and somebody is always doing SOMETHING! 🤦🏽‍♀️😆

How do you research for your books?

MW:  I research by googling or asking someone I know that has knowledge of what I’m writing about. For my country hood love stories, I mainly asked my husband whatever I needed to know. He thinks he’s my co-writer now. 🤦🏽‍♀️

What is your work schedule like when you're writing?

MW:  Well… I’m always writing. Lol

Monday through Friday, 8:30 to 3:30. I take a 30 minute breaks at 10, 12, and 2. Then I write at night, usually starting around 8, unless I have a book discussion or something. If I have free time on the weekends or any other time, I write then too.

If you could tell your younger writing self anything, what would it be?

MW:  I would tell myself to promote more. I was always confident, but I also cared too much about what other people thought. Now it’s like… whatever. 😆 I was under the radar for 4 years, because I didn’t engage or promote much. Also, I wish I had learned the business sooner. I was just writing. If people read it, then good. Lol.

Is there a genre you haven't tried but would like to?

MW:  Nope. 😆 My romance has urban and erotica fused into it. 🤔 Let’s see… I’ve dabbled in paranormal within a few romance books through characters hallucinating, but I haven’t gotten to the point where I think I could do an entire book.

If I did switch it up, it would be with that genre.

What are you working on now?

MW:  I just started writing book 13 of the Berotte Family Series. Lawd. One more after this and this series is a wrap!

Where can readers find out more about you & your work?

MW:  Readers can find out more about my work on my website, authormonicawalters.com. They can find out more about ME in my Facebook group, Monica’s Romantic Sweet Spot. ♥️

Amazon recommended her work to me over 3 years ago and I went back and read all of her books. I am and will be a forever fan!

The way she writes I simply "1 click" because I already know it's going to be 🔥🔥🔥

She is so down to earth, just gotta love her! 💖
