"Giving isn't just about making a donation. It's about making a difference."

Whew! When I tell y’all I cannot believe how the community has shown up and shown out for the cause! We literally made two posts requesting donations for 55 books for the students at The Gardner Preparatory, and we raised over 100 books! I’m gonna need a building in a minute because my in-home library is starting to look more like a warehouse. I’m not complaining, doe!

So, since y’all are our number one supporters, I’m gonna walk y’all through the day of our first in person literary donation event. I was so nervous because as I’m sure you’ve noticed, I’m kinda shy; I don’t like speaking in front of groups, and I don’t like the spotlight. So, my plan was to literally go say hi to the kids, let them pick out a book, and go. But no…the owner of The Gardner Preparatory asked RAHEL…yes, RAHEL to read to the students to get them excited about the books because you know, in these times, it’s not “cool” to read. So Rahel comes in the inbox, talking bout she had a sore throat so she couldn’t read to the kids…

We got there, and I was so excited to see Sasha Rae, the official HHB Mascot 💜. She volunteered to wheel in the books for the kids and pass them out. Rahel still refused to read to the babies *eyeroll* so I got up, spoke to the kids a little bit, and read the book to them. I was so nervous, y’all. I was sweating and everything.

At the end of the day, I was so happy with how everything turned out. The kids were so engaged, polite, and EXCITED to receive the books. Since we were able to get so many donations, some kids walked away with TWO books. In all, we were able to give about 75 books, and we couldn’t have done it without y’all.

We are so incredibly thankful to those who donated.

Time flies! It’s back to school time and we want to give back to students and educators. As a former classroom teacher, I know how expensive it can be at the beginning of the school year. We also know that it can be difficult to be a parent at the beginning of the school year because of these endless school supply lists. So, for the entire month of August, we’re doing a Back2School Amazon Wishlist Giveaway for educators and students. If you know of any educators and/or students in need, send them our way!

We’re always open for donations, so feel free to donate if your heart desires. Thank you all for your continued support.
